Eight Methods To Extend The Life Of Forklift Tires

1. Choose the right tires for forklift operations
Choosing the right tire is the first step in ensuring optimal performance of industrial solid tires. The application of the material handling service should determine the type of equipment and tires to be used. Maximizing industrial tire life can only be achieved with the right tires on a forklift designed for the service application.
2. Check tires regularly
Inspect your tires at least once a week, and if possible, daily. Pay attention to and remove broken glass, nails, embedded metal shavings, etc. from the tires. If the inspection reveals irregular tire tread wear or excessive wear, this is often caused by mechanical failure, such as brake failure or improper four-wheel alignment. If found, correct it immediately.
3. Lubricate the forklift regularly
Proper lubrication, especially of the engine and braking system, will ensure that the forklift rolls freely and reduces tire resistance without slipping. Avoid over-lubrication, as spills of grease and oil are harmful to most rubber compounds.
4. Adjust the brakes
Wheels are part of the braking system of many vehicles. Brake failure can cause the brakes to drag and generate a lot of heat, which may lead to problems such as tire blowouts.
5. Check shaft alignment and steering
Regularly check steering gear and shaft alignment to avoid rapid or irregular tire wear and delamination.
6. Keep tires clean
Make sure there is sufficient cleanliness between the tire and the forklift to avoid damage to the tire due to debris falling into the gap between the tire and the forklift.
7. Install the tire in the center of the wheel
If the tire is not installed correctly on the wheel, it will cause the tire to slip.
8. Use appropriate equipment

Do not use forklift with a load capacity that is too small for the moving work to save costs or temporarily. Overloading forklift can be unsafe and cause damage to the forklift, tires, driver, and the cargo being moved.
